Newport is where it all began for Jeremiah O’Connor and Sarah Grinnell. A mutual friend’s hunch about the two proved to be true when Jeremiah came back home from New York and met Sarah for the first time. After a night out in Jamestown, the two knew they had something special. Sarah recalls, “Jerry and I immediately hit it off with our mutual love for local sports.” Jerry moved back to the Ocean State permanently after a six month long-distance courtship to be with Sarah full time. Though they discussed marriage, Jerry recalls having “butterflies in his stomach” when he proposed privately on a romantic winter evening over champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries. As natives of Portsmouth and North Kingstown with a deep affection for the area, the Glen Manor House was a natural choice for a sumptuous autumnal ceremony surrounded by their closest friends and family.—DS

Though Jerry and Sarah decided on a late fall wedding, the weather was generously warm. Jerry recalls, “We were able to get the full experience of the breathtaking foliage and ocean view.”
Sweets
A scrumptious vanilla buttercream frosted almond cake filled with raspberry preserve and chocolate ganache filling was served along with a yummy assortment of chocolate-covered strawberries, mini cheesecakes, fresh fruit tartlets, mini crème brulees and cream puffs.
Most Cherished Memory
Reciting their vows was the couple’s most cherished memory. The two recall, “We spent many days contemplating our relationship goals and priorities, building them into a personal profession of love.”
Special Gifts
In lieu of favors, the couple made a donation to the American Cancer Society in honor
of family members who have struggled with the disease.
Where Are They Now?
After a fiesta filled honeymoon in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, Mr. and Mrs. O’Connor returned to their home in Newport where Sarah is a dietician and Jerry is an Account Manager at CVS Health.
