“Since I made so many things, all the little details of the wedding were ‘me.’ I don’t know if we could’ve gotten the same feeling if I hadn’t made so much,” says the DIY bride.

Who would’ve thought that a game of flag football would lead to a lifetime of love? Andrea Hubbard, from Massachusetts, and native New Yorker Arthur Klock were quite unaware when they met at one while in veterinary school. Their feelings for each other ignited, and a few years later, they went out to dinner to celebrate her passing the veterinary board exam. “I had an idea a proposal was coming [because] he had left ring pricing pamphlets in the apartment but I bought the idea that this was a celebration,” she says. The bride-to-be was caught by surprise when dessert arrived, complete with a sparkly side-dish accompanied by a very important question inscribed in chocolate on her plate.—TS

Venue
A destination wedding was in order for the couple who wanted a central location to both families in New York and Massachusetts. Andrea says, “I wanted a mansion wedding. Glen Manor is so beautiful and I loved how you could really use so much of the space.”

DIY
The crafty bride made the majority of the decorations for her big day. The creative list included everything from the invitations and flower arrangements to clutches and accessories for her bridesmaids. Arthur contributed with a handmade lobster trap card box and cornhole game.

Sweets
The couple opted for a cupcake tower topped with a small wedding cake for the traditional slice. They also offered a make-your-own cannoli bar with toppings including chocolate chips, nuts and dried fruit.

Where Are They Now
After an exotic honeymoon in New Zealand and Fiji, the couple returned to New York where they both are veterinarians.
